LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Caption Adam Lambert arrives at the premiere of ‘2012’ at the Regal Cinemas LA Live on November 3, 2009 in Los Angeles, CaliforniaAdam Lambert Tweeted in October that he wanted to be a “glampire” for Halloween, but apparently his interest in vampires extends to Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight Saga” franchise as well.
The singer, who just released his first post-“American Idol” album last week — “For Your Entertainment” — told MTV News he’s interested in having “Suburban Decay,” a track that didn’t make his debut album, land a spot on “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” soundtrack next year.
“Hey, ‘Eclipse’… Want my song? It’s kind of about vampires,” he told MTV, noting there were some lyrics about “bloodlust.”
Adam said he hopes to take the song to a live audience as well.
“It’s a great song and I hope to perform it someday, and I think it will find a home, on a soundtrack or something… maybe ‘Twilight,’” he said. “It just didn’t quite fit [in my album]. It’s very theatrical… It’s very campy, and it was just a bit too campy for the album as a big picture.”
In related Adam news, the head of Disney’s television division said on Monday they were reviewing ABC (which is owned by Disney) procedures related to how they prep for live shows featuring entertainers, in the wake of the singer’s controversial American Music Awards performance last month.
During Adam’s show-closing number on the AMAs broadcast he flicked his middle finger on camera, gave an open mouth kiss to a male keyboardist and rubbed a backup dancer’s head near his nether-regions in a sexual fashion.
And Disney/ABC Television Group President Anne Sweeney told Reuters on Monday that they are looking at the steps they take – including potentially getting assurances via contractual obligations from entertainers that their on-air performance will match what they do in rehearsal.
“We certainly don’t want to suppress artistry at any level, but we also have to be very cognizant of who our audience is,” Sweeney said.
As for Adam, he told “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on an episode set to air Tuesday that he “maybe went a little too far.
“I look back on it and I go, ‘OK, maybe that wasn’t the best first impression to make again, the first second impression,’” he told Ellen. “I had fun up there, I had a good time, my dancers had fun and the band had fun… I respect people and feel like people walked away from that feeling disrespected. I would never intend to disrespect anybody. So that was not my intention.”
