Two live-action comedies have been unable to bring down the animated adventure “Up.”
According to studio estimates Sunday, Disney and Pixar Animation’s “Up” reeled in $44.2 million in ticket sales to remain on top of the box office for the second weekend in a row.

Nickelodeon is adding a panda to its lineup — but not just any panda.
The cable channel announced that it’s “Kung Fu Panda: The Series.”
Based on the hit 2008 film, “Kung Fu Panda,” the series’ 26 episodes will be animated in the same computer-generated process. It will tell new adventures of Po, the frisky martial arts panda who starred in the film.

FOX says it’s renewing “The Simpsons” for another two seasons, which will secure its place as TV’s longest-running prime-time series.
Now in its 20th season, “The Simpsons” already had tied record-holder “Gunsmoke.” The Western drama series aired for two decades on CBS before it ended in 1975.

Families herded into movie theaters for another trek with stranded zoo animals as the animated sequel “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” led the weekend with a $63.5 million debut, according to studio estimates Sunday.
The haul for the DreamWorks Animation comedy far surpassed the $47.2 million debut for “Madagascar” over Memorial Day weekend in 2005. Its three-day total also beat the $61 million gross the first movie took in over that full four-day holiday weekend.
