LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Patrick Dempsey is heading to “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

This weekend, the Marshall family, one of the families set to appear on an upcoming episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” will travel to Maine, to meet the “Grey’s Anatomy” star as he hosts the Dempsey Challenge. The Dempsey Challenge raises funds for the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center, which assists cancer patients and caregivers with support and education.

Patrick founded the center in 2008 in response to his mother’s multiple bouts with ovarian cancer.

Jay and Elena Marshall, and their children, including 9-year-old Cameron, who was diagnosed with leukemia, have also played a role in raising cancer awareness and raised thousands of dollars for Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.

In addition to meeting the handsome TV doc and real-life do-gooder, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is building the Marshall family a brand new home from the ground up. The family is also being sent to Walt Disney World.

Patrick is one of many stars who signed on for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’s” “Get On The Bus” campaign this television season.

“High School Musical’s” Ashley Tisdale will appear on this Sunday’s episode of the popular show as she lends a hand to help build a new home for another deserving family.

Other stars set to join the “Get on the Bus” campaign this season include David Duchovny, Mary J. Blige, Tyler Perry, Clint Black, Kellie Pickler, Xzibit and Trace Adkins.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” airs Sundays at 8 PM on ABC.
