LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

As Hugh Jackman’s reign as People‘s Sexiest Man Alive winds to a close, the star told the mag that losing the title would be a relief.

“Now the pressure’s off,” he said. “I can be a slob again.”

Still, the hard-working star, currently starring in Broadway’s “A Steady Rain” opposite Daniel Craig, said he’d also be willing to take on the responsibility once more.

“I want to be the first to have it back to back,” he admitted. “That would be fantastic!

“I thought there were thousands of other guys that deserved it, but it’s been a great year,” he continued.

Indeed, Hugh’s in good company with the annual award-- recent winners have included Matt Damon, George Clooney, Matthew McConaughey, Jude Law and Johnny Depp.
