“American Idol” sent two contestants home on Wednesday evening — and neither of them were Matt Giraud.
Matt, who was brought back from elimination via the judges’ save last Wednesday, wasn’t even in the bottom three this week. Instead, it was Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai who were sent home. Flame-haired teenager Allison Iraheta was also in the bottom three.

The 22-year-old, who tackled Donna Summer’s “Dim All The Lights,” impressed judges Kara DioGuardi and Paula Abdul and received mixed praise from Randy Jackson.
Still, Simon slammed the singer.

Adam Lambert may have put in another lauded performance on “American Idol” Tuesday night, but it was some of his fellow contenders who made the biggest splash on the Fox reality show.
Under the mentorship of film director Quentin Tarantino, the contestants chose songs from films. Lil Rounds, who performed the Bette Midler classic, “The Rose,” with an R&B flair, ended in hot water with judge Simon Cowell.
