LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

James Franco is heading to “30 Rock.”

According to Entertainment Weekly columnist Michael Ausiello, the “Milk” actor will play himself in the NBC comedy series.

James is set to become involved in a “faux romance” with Jane Krakowski, who plays Jenna on the series.

Fans of the series know Jane’s character is slightly neurotic about her fame and the fake romance is set to be conjured up by their agents.

James will reportedly film his role this week.

In related news, the first still of James on ABC soap “General Hospital” emerged on Tuesday.

James recently jumped from the big screen to daytime TV at his own request and his first episode on the soap airs on Friday November 20.

Few details have emerged about James’ character on the show, but according to SoapNet, which revealed James’ daytime look, he is involved with mobster Jason.

Jason, played by Steve Burton, is an underworld character with a conscience, so it’s likely James’ character will also be involved in organized crime.

The actor has a number of films in the queue as well, including next year’s drug comedy “Your Highness,” which reunites him with “Pineapple Express” director David Gordon Green, and his Allen Ginsberg biopic, “Howl.”
