LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi’s August 2008 marriage status might be in jeopardy from the passage of California’s Proposition 8 in November that has put the state’s same-sex marriages in legal limbo, but the happy couple was in full celebration mode Saturday night at the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

Ellen nabbed the award for Outstanding Talk Show Episode for “Ellen & Portia’s Wedding Day,” a day she looks back on with great joy.

“It’s just sharing the happiest day of my life,” Ellen told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson backstage. “We didn’t register, so this is nice. We get an award!”

Portia on the other hand was a bit more modest about their award-winning wedding.

“All I did was marry her,” she said. “I don’t know if I really deserve an award for that.”

And despite the same-sex marriage setbacks in California following Prop 8, Ellen told Access that life has never been better.

“I’m happier than I’ve ever been,” She said of her marriage to Portia. “And lucky to have found this because, I know how rare it is.”

In addition to success in her personal life, Ellen’s career continues to flourish. The talk show host just landed an upcoming interview with Lindsay Lohan – something Ellen hopes the young star will benefit from.

“I’m excited. I want to hear what Lindsay has to say and [I] hope she gets back to her career,” Ellen told Shaun. “She seems to be reaching out to people lately… I hope she’s OK… she’s so talented.”

Adding, “I’m going to ask her what’s going on and let her have a platform to speak.”
