Could the acclaimed 2009 film “Precious” possibly spawn a sequel?
The New York Observer reports that Sapphire, the author of the original novel “Push,” which was adapted into the film “Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire,” has sold a second book to Penguin Press to be published in Summer 2011.

The sister of “Precious” director Lee Daniels has been charged with removing guns and cash from her California house following her husband’s arrest on drug smuggling charges.
Leah Daniels-Butler, a casting associate who helped discover “Precious” star Gabourey Sidibe, was charged Tuesday in Brooklyn with obstructing a federal investigation.

Oscar-nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe and former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson will appear on ABC’s “The View” next week.
The network announced Wednesday that Sidibe will mark her first time as guest co-host of “The View” next Tuesday. She made her acting debut in the critically acclaimed film “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.”
