LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
The public memorial for Michael Jackson may feature some legendary star power – however, it will not be a flashy tribute concert, Access Hollywood has learned.
The service, which will be held at Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles on July 7, 2009, will “not be a tribute, not a show,” Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich told Access Hollywood executive producer Rob Silverstein.
“It will be a memorial service reflecting the dignity of what the family wants,” Ehrlich, who will produce the Jackson service, noted. “It will be a fitting memorial to Michael Jackson – no dance numbers.”
However, Ehrlich, who is producing the memorial with Kenny Ortega, did say the service would include “some types of performances.”
In addition, the stage Jackson had been rehearsing on inside Staples Center for his upcoming “This Is It” concert series in London will not be up for the service.
Jackson died on June 25 at the age of 50.
