LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
DJ AM will reportedly be laid to rest today.
According to E! Online, the funeral for the celebrity DJ, whose real name was Adam Goldstein, will take place at 3 PM at the Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in West Los Angeles.
According to an E! source close to the Goldstein family, the service is for “family only.”
When contacted by Access, a rep for Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary said there is nothing planned today at 3 PM. When asked whether the E! report was true or not, the rep said, “I can’t say.”
Om Tuesday, People reported that a memorial service would take place on Thursday for Goldstein and invitations were sent out that read, “The format of the evening will be in the style of an open 12-step meeting. Adam’s friends both from his life in recovery, as well as those from other areas of his life are welcome. We ask only that everyone adhere to the tradition of anonymity and let what they hear there, and who they see there, stay there.”
But a source close to the planning of the DJ AM memorial told Access Hollywood this was not true.
“There was no formal invite. There is no 12 step, but a celebration of his life,” The source told Access. “There will be no media, tight security and people will not be able to bring phones or blackberries or cameras in.”
The 36-year-old DJ was found dead in his New York City apartment last Friday. Sources told Access that authorities found a crack pipe and a bag of crack near DJ AM’s body after breaking the star’s door down, following a 911 call from one of his friends.
Prescription pills were also found in the apartment, sources told Access. DJ AM had recently completed an MTV intervention-style reality series, “Gone Too Far,” just three days before his death. There’s been no word yet from the network on if the DJ’s death has impacted plans to air the series.
The coroner said autopsy tests were inconclusive and DJ AM’s cause of death has yet to be determined.
And though his cause of death has still not been determined, People reported today that the celebrity DJ ingested eight OxyContin pills and had a ninth in his mouth when he was found dead, while the Associated Press reported six pills were found in his stomach and one was lodged in his throat.
