LOS ANGELES, Calif.

The Emmys keep buying what “Mad Men” is selling. The 1960s Madison Avenue saga won its fourth consecutive best drama series award Sunday, while big-hearted romp “Modern Family” claimed its second best comedy trophy.

The ABC sitcom picked up a total of five awards at Sunday’s Emmys, including supporting acting Emmys for TV parents Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell and best writing and direction.

LOS ANGELES, Calif.

“Boardwalk Empire” captured a leading seven trophies at the creative arts Emmy Awards, with Gwyneth Paltrow and Justin Timberlake earning TV comedy series guest-star honors.

Paltrow, recognized for “Glee,” and Timberlake, a winner for hosting “Saturday Night Live,” were no-shows at Saturday’s ceremony for technical and other achievements. It preceded the main Sept. 18 Emmy show.

‘Mad Men’ Earns A Leading 19 Emmy Award Nominations, Including Best Drama

LOS ANGELES, Calif.

“Mad Men,” the sharply observed drama of a changing 1960s America, captured 19 Emmy nominations Thursday morning to lead the series pack, with the melodramatic miniseries “Mildred Pierce” starring Kate Winslet grabbing a top 21 bids.

“Mad Men” has a chance to repeat for a fourth consecutive year as best drama. “Modern Family,” last year’s top comedy series, was the most-nominated sitcom with 17 bids.
