The country star won five of the six awards she was nominated for, even beating out Michael Jackson for Artist of the Year in the fan-voted awards show.
“To even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson is an honor,” Taylor said, accepting the award from London via satellite and thanking the Jackson family for reaching out to her. “To the fans, you have given me so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.”
The late King of Pop did pick up two AMA trophies — Favorite Pop/Rock Male and Soul/R&B Artist. Both were accepted by brother Jermaine on his behalf.
Among the show’s other winners were Green Day, Jay-Z, Whitney Houston, Beyonce and Gloriana, who took home the Breakthrough Artist award over the heavily favored Lady Gaga.
