ATLANTA, Ga.
The federal appeals court in Atlanta on Tuesday turned away the latest attempt by actor Wesley Snipes to get his conviction and prison sentence on tax charges overturned.
The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals rejected the appeal by Snipes, who was convicted in 2008 on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file income tax returns.

Early last June, CNN celebrated 25 years of “Larry King Live” with a week of shows whose A-list guests included President Barack Obama, LeBron James, Bill Gates and Lady Gaga.
Then, at the end of June, King suddenly announced he was retiring from his show — a weeknight fixture at 9 PM Eastern since June 1, 1985. He told viewers, “It’s time to hang up my nightly suspenders.”
After Thursday’s edition, King will indeed hang it up, suspenders and all.
The lineup for this farewell hour should be stellar, though no names have been announced. The mood should be spirited and flowing with emotion.

Wesley Snipes is no longer a free man.
The “To Wong Foo” and “Blade” actor surrendered before noon EST to begin serving his 36-month sentence. He will be imprisoned at the Federal Correctional Institution McKean in Bradford, Pennsylvania.

Actor Wesley Snipes says he relied on the advice of tax professionals and doesn’t believe he deserves a three-year prison sentence for failing to pay taxes.
Snipes says his case has been misrepresented in the media and he wanted to clear the air on CNN’s “Larry King Live” Tuesday night. He said he’s not nervous about reporting to a Pennsylvania prison Thursday. He says he was more upset and disappointed that the legal system was not working in his favor.

Wesley Snipes must begin his three-year prison sentence for failing to pay taxes before the holidays as originally ordered, and not afterward as the actor had requested.
Snipes asked a judge if he could surrender on Jan. 6 in Pennsylvania instead of on Thursday. The motion says Snipes has four young children and the “surrender date is in the middle of the holiday season.”
